FAQs
Q. What is anodizing?

A. Anodizing is an electrolytic passivisation process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer of aluminum. Anodizing provides corrosion and wear resistance. It also  provides better adhesion for paint primers and glues than bare metal. Anodic films can also be used for a number of cosmetic effects, either with thick porous coatings that can absorb dyes or with thin transparent coatings that add interference effects to reflected light. It is typically done over aluminum, although other metals can be anodized.

Q. What textures do you offer?

A.  We offer a variety of surface effects. We can do Mirror-Polished Anodizing, which results in a very smooth, silky and bright finish. This process enhances the color depth. Satin Finish can be done to provide a patterned, flat looking effect. Flat Anodizing can be achieved by etching the aluminum for a very military flat surface with zero reflection to the light. Other effects are possible. Just show us your sample or tell us of your idea.

Q. How much does it cost?

A.  The minimum charge for anodizing is $100.00 per load (clear) and $150.00 per load (color). For example, if the cost of one part is $ 5.00 and the customer has four parts it would cost the minimum $100.00.  Pricing depends on several variables. We calculate the price based on dimension, shape, configuration, desired finish, quantity and delivery requirements. Call us for a quote.

Q. What is the difference between Anodizing, Plating (nickel, chrome, etc…) and Painting (powder coat, clear coat, etc..)?

A. Unlike Plating and Painting , Anodizing is an oxide layer on the aluminum that is engrained into the metal. There is nothing that will peel, crack, flake, or delaminate. It can be applied thinly thus not affecting the overall dimension of the part. The film is uniform, and will protect the aluminum against corrosion, abrasion and the elements. It can be dyed to almost any color. Anodizing is preferred for exterior applications such as marine, housing, automotive, etc.

Q. What size parts can be anodized?

A. We can process parts up to 7 feet in length, 3 feet deep and 1.5 feet wide.

Q. What is your turnaround time?

A. Average turnaround time is 3-4 days. Large orders will be longer. Rush services are available. Contact us for details.
